On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside the fitting out berth at the Yarrow & Co Ltd shipyard at Scotstoun, Glasgow. The photographer is in the passageway between 64 and 67 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and slightly to port. The sliding door to 'K' switchboard room is on the left. On the port side of the passage is the aft damage control station comprising a shelf unit with a damage control locker on either side of it, a telephone, a transformer, fuse panels and a fire extinguisher. A fire hose basket is fitted to the side of the raised scuttle leading down to the gearing room on 3 deck. The watertight door at 67 station is open and a cable hanger, telephone and starter panel are against the bulkhead at 69 station.
