A close starboard quarter view of the Cunard Line cruise ship Lancastria (1922) moored stern-on to a quay at Algiers, Algeria.
A close starboard quarter view of the Cunard Line cruise ship Lancastria (1922) moored stern-on to a quay at Algiers, Algeria. The ship is in the standard cunard livery of black hull with white upperworks but the white has been extended down by one deck. The photographer is on the quay close to the ship's stern which is out of the picture, as is the top of her mainmast. Alongside the ship are a number of pontoons on which local vendors are displaying their wares for sale to the ship's passengers. Berthed alongside the line of pontoons is the British-built harbour tug Furet II (1930) seen from dead astern.
