On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard during her September 1968 to April 1970 refit. The photographer is in the 4.5 inch handing room and crew shelter between 37½ and 41½ stations on 1 deck looking to port showing the two ammunition hoists manufactured by Cocksedge & Co Ltd. An electric fire, a fuse panel, a transformer. a telephone and the door to the fo'c's'le locker are on the port side. A cleansing locker and a loudspeaker are against the aft bulkhead.
