On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard during her September 1968 to April 1970 refit. The photographer is in the battery charging room between 48 and 50 stations on the centreline of 01 deck looking aft and to port showing a work bench with cupboards, shelves and drawers under. Various batteries, a tool roll and handlamps are on the bench and a Type A charging board is against the port bulkhead. Tins of caustic soda and caustic potash are on the deck in the corner.
