On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard. The photographer is in the sonar control room between 41 and 43 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking aft and to port showing the type 199 towed array sonar control consoles, the T.A.S. & sonar state board, a telephone, a remote control box for the H.O.20 directing gear and a sonar type 177 range and bearing repeater are against the port bulkhead. The consoles R, S and T are against the aft bulkhead and console T is undergoing maintenance.
