On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard during her September 1968 to April 1970 refit. The photographer is in the steering gear compartment between 85 and 95 stations on 2 deck looking forward from the port side aft showing shelves and wire fronted storage against the port side of the ship. Nests of drawers and a wire fronted shelf are against the forward bulkhead next to the access hatch from the hydraulic pump space. On the right against the steering gear cage are an emergency change over switch and connection box and a starter. A vertical format negative.
