The photographer is in the steering gear compartment between 85 and 95 stations on 2 deck looking to starboard and forward from the port side at the forward end showing steps up to the access hatch from the hydraulic pump space on the left. Nests of drawers are against the starboard side of the ship. A vertical steel ladder is in the corner leading up to 1 deck and a starter and an automatic emergency lantern are against the forward bulkhead.
