On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard during her September 1968 to April 1970 refit. The photographer is in the diesel generator compartment between 61 and 65½ stations on the centreline of 1 deck looking aft on the port side showing the Paxman diesel engine on the right. A work bench equipped with a vice, a telephone handset and a fan motor are on the left against the gas turbine uptake. A starter panel, a fire extinguisher, toolboxes and an automatic emergency lantern are against the aft bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
