On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard during her September 1968 to April 1970 refit. The photographer is in the conversion machinery and radar power room between 45 and 48 stations on the starboard side of 4 deck looking aft on the starboard side showing a searchlight rectifier, two 5 KW rectifiers and two 25KW rectifiers against the ship's side. A steel cupboard is in the right foreground with a motor generator beyond it. A large wooden case is on top of the steel cupboard. A starter, a ventilation trunk fitted with an axial flow fan, an automatic emergency lantern and a locker are against the aft bulkhead. Toolboxes are on the deck. A vertical format negative.
