On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard during her September 1968 to April 1970 refit. The photographer is in the conversion machinery and radar power room between 45 and 48 stations on the starboard side of 4 deck looking to port from 47½ station on the starboard side showing a transformer, two automatic change over switches and a speed and distance transmitter against the aft bulkhead. On the right are a motor generator on the deck and a choke unit and a filter unit on the inboard bulkhead. The pitometer log tube and its control unit and a retransmission unit are against the forward bulkhead of the inboard space. A cable hanger and a large fuse panel are against the port bulkhead.
