On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard during her September 1968 to April 1970 refit. The photographer is in the operations room between 41½ and 45½ stations on 1 deck looking aft and to port from 43½ station to starboard of the centreline showing the two Admiralty Research Laboratory plotting tables with the commanding officer's visual display unit between them. On the right are two visual display units. Under the deckhead are a marker switch box, a radar selection command J.U.A., four microphones and a microphone control box.
