On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard during her September 1968 to April 1970 refit. The photographer is in the operations room between 41½ and 45½ stations on 1 deck looking forward and slightly to port from to starboard of the captain's chair at 43½ station showing a communications desk with three chairs. The positions are equipped with morse keys are are labelled T.O.1, T.O.2 and comms yeoman. Above the desk are telephone circuit and switch boards, a main broadcast microphone terminal, telephones, a speaking tube, the fleet disposition board, the fleet stateboard and a clock reading 11.50.
