On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard during her September 1968 to April 1970 refit. The photographer is in the spare engine and deck store between 67½ and 68½ stations on the port side of 1 deck looking aft from the doorway showing a chain hoist fitted under the deckhead. Two lockers are against the aft bulkhead and below them are a folding table and a wicker basket. Hoses, brooms, buckets and a wooden packing case are in the store.
