On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962. The photographer is in the crew's galley and preparation space between 45 and 50 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to starboard from the passageway outside the servery. In the foreground is the platter slide. On the left are hot cupboards, a deep fryer and a shallow fryer. On the right are an hot cupboard, an automatic emergency lantern, a roasting oven, a steaming oven and three boiling coppers. A stainless steel dresser shelf unit is in the centre. Against the ship's side is a stainless steel bench with a shelf under and a shelf above and it has a gravity meat slicing machine on it.
