On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962. The photographer is in the helicopter hangar between 72 and 75 stations on 1 deck looking to port and slightly forward from the starboard side showing the door into the 4.5 inch handing room and crew shelter and the open door to the torpedo maintenance space on the left. The chain gear for the lift is prominent against the hangar bulkheads and a fire extinguisher is in the port aft corner.
