On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962. The photographer is on the centreline of the forecastle looking aft from the jackstaff showing the hawse pipes with the riding bit [bitt] between them, the anchor cables with the chain pipes between them, the twin headed capstans, the breakwater, the 4.5 inch gun mount and the superstructure. The lower part of the MRS 3 director is in the picture but the type 293 radar and the mast are out of the picture. A Colony class cruiser is in the background.
