On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962. The photographer is on the starboard side of 01 deck at 50 station looking aft and to starboard showing the single Mark 9 L70 bofors gun mounting. Abaft it are the davits for the 27 feet motor whaler. Laid up in the background are the Isle of Wight paddle steamer Whippingham (1930) and a Royal Navy Colony class light cruiser.
