On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962. The photographer is on the starboard side of 02 deck at 47½ station looking aft, to starboard and down showing the single Mark 9 L70 bofors gun mounting on 01 deck. Abaft it are the davits for the 27 feet motor whaler and the flight deck. Laid up in the upper left background is the Isle of Wight paddle steamer Whippingham (1930).
