The type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962. The photographer is on the jetty looking aft and to starboard from abreast the break in the forecastle showing the 25 feet motor cutter in its davits with a scrambling net at the deck edge below it. The ship's funnels are beyond it and on the forefunnel is a logo of a dhow showing that the ship is to serve in the Persian Gulf.
