On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962. The photographer is at 66 station on the starboard side of 01 deck looking aft showing two men working on the emergency conning position with the flight deck abaft it. The portable lift covers are in place on the flight deck. The ship is berthed port side to the jetty and a Bar class boom defence vessel is astern of her. Laid up in Fareham Creek in the background is a Royal Navy Colony class light cruiser.
