On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside the South Arm in Rosyth Dockyard prior to 25 March 1973. The photographer is in the petty officer's mess between 73 and 78 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard showing the bar in the starboard aft corner. A settee bench, an A to L letter rack, a loudspeaker, a clock and a March-April 1973 calendar are on the starboard side. A telephone handset, a notice board, a cabinet containing operating procedures if the mess is used as a casualty station, bookshelves and an M to Z letter rack are against the aft bulkhead. Coffee tables and stools made from beer firkins are in the foreground.
