On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside the South Arm in Rosyth Dockyard prior to 25 March 1973. The photographer is in the petty officer's mess between 73 and 78 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward and to starboard from 77½ station showing the bar in the starboard aft corner on the extreme right. A settee bench, an A to L letter rack, two loudspeakers and an automatic emergency lantern are on the starboard side. Coffee tables and stools made from beer firkins and two upholstered tubular steel armchairs are in the foreground. Two ammunition hoist starter panels and six kit lockers, including no. 218 used by P.O. Buckley, are in the background. A triple tier bunk unit is against the ship's side.
