The photographer is on the port side of the forecastle at 32 station looking aft showing the superstructure, enclosed bridge and port single 20 mm oerlikon mounting. The door into the 4.5 inch ready use magazine and gun crew's shelter is open and the handing scuttle can be seen in the door. The R.A.S. (replenishment at sea) tripod can be seen on the left. A 4.5 inch fixed test round made of hardwood and brass is propped up against the superstructure.
