The photographer is looking forward from the port side of the quarterdeck at 1 deck level showing the capstan and winches with canvas covers, the 4.5 inch gun mounting, the hangar, flight deck, funnels and mainmast with type 965 bedstead aerial at the top. The watertight door to the 4.5 inch handing room and gun crew's shelter is open. Berthed alongside the Nubian is the sullage lighter P.A.S. 1406 and the steam tug TID 164 (1945). The two Forth Bridges can be seen in the distance.
