On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is in the combined technical office between 59 and 61½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to port from 60 station on the starboard side showing a sloping topped desk in the foreground. Two desks are against the aft bulkhead and above them are a ship's dial telephone, noticeboards, the ship's incident board plan, sliding door cupboards and an inclinometer. On one of the desks is volume 21 of the Journal of Naval Engineering. Against the port bulkhead are a key cabinet, a November 1973 RN calendar, microphones, loudspeakers, headsets, a telephone control unit and an alarm push.
