On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is in the engineer's and ordnance workshop between 61 and 63¾ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard showing the workbench equipped with two Paramo 41 vices and a Record 36 vice and with nests of drawers and cupboards under it is against the ship's side. Above the bench are pigeon hole racks and steel cupboards. Against the aft bulkhead are an emergency first aid cabinet, a hacksaw and a drawer and cupboard unit with a QS electric drill on it. Hanging in front of the bulkhead are three sections of Maclellan compass diesel exhaust accepted by Lloyds.
