On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is in the chart house between 43½ and 44½ stations on the port side of 01 deck looking to port and aft showing a bookshelf, a noticeboard, a key cabinet and a wooden box against the aft bulkhead. On the noticeboard is a depth conversion card graduated in fathoms, feet and metres. A unit flashing box, a depth recorder, an action intercom microphone and loudspeaker, a voicepipe to the navigating officer's cabin and an echo sounding amplifier are against the port bulkhead.
