On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is in the junior rates and marines mess between 50 and 56 stations on 3 deck looking to starboard and forward from the centreline at 54½ station showing a corner of the recreation area with a settee bench in the corner and a folding table in the right foreground. On the table is a portable television and two ashtrays. A cupboard unit is beyond the table and a tray with a teapot on it is on top of the cupboard. A small cupboard is built in to the corner above the settee bench. A vertical format negative.
