On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is in the junior rates mess between 78 and 85 stations on 2 deck looking to starboard from 82½ station on the port side showing a settee bench with cupboards, a teaport and a wire rack of crockery against the aft bulkhead. A mirror is fitted to the end of a steel cupboard on the left. Stairs leading up to 1 deck and a hatch leading down to 3 deck are in the background. A vertical format negative.
