The photographer is in the junior rates mess between 67 and 73 stations on 3 deck looking forward from the centreline at 71½ station showing a triple tier bunk unit on the left. On the right are the backs of a greatcoat cupboard and a stack of kit lockers and fixed to these backs are coat hooks, a letter rack and two electric irons. Stuck to the side of the greatcoat cupboard is a poster reproduced from the OZ magazine 47 of April 1973 showing a cartoon of Enoch Powell on a pogo stick with the headline "Revealed!
