On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is in the chief petty officer's mess between 67 and 73 stations on 2 deck looking to port and aft from just to starboard of the centreline at 70 station showing a settee bench against the port bulkhead. A folding armchair and a coffee table are in front of the settee. A cushioned seat is round one of the centreline supporting pillars in the centre and against the aft bulkhead is an air conditioning unit, a loudspeaker cabinet and a Sanyo portable cassette/radio.
