On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is in the chief petty officer's mess between 67 and 73 stations on 2 deck looking forward from just to starboard of the centreline at 71 station showing a bar with a roller shutter unit behind it. A K.P. Lau calendar for January and February 1974 is fixed to the end of the roller shutter unit. An automatic emergency lantern and a clock reading 2.36 are against the forward bulkhead.
