The photographer is in the crew's mess between 56 and 59 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward showing two triple tier bunk units, a double tier bunk unit above three kit lockers, four other kit lockers, a suitcase rack, a mess locker, a tubular steel chair, a notice board and a letter rack. On a tray on the mess locker are two headsets. This space is described as a crew mess by the photographer and on Admiralty plan no. 000956396 (NMM ID No. NPD1713) but a petty officer's cap is hanging on a hook.
