The photographer is in the crew's mess between 56 and 59 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to port from 57½ station showing a mess locker with a notice board above it, a greatcoat cupboard, a loudspeaker cabinet and an automatic emergency lantern. A curtain is drawn across the mess door. A triple tier bunk unit is against the port bulkhead on the left. This space is described as a crew mess by the photographer and on Admiralty plan no. 000956396 (NMM ID No. NPD1713) but petty officers' caps are hanging on hooks by the door. A vertical format negative.
