On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is in the junior rate's mess between 41 and 45 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking to port and forward from near the centreline at 44½ station showing stairs up to 2 deck, the door to the C.C.R. (Tx) room (communications control room (transmitting)), a fire extinguisher, a fire main and hose rack, a letter rack, a breathing apparatus cabinet and air hose and a mail sack.
