On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is in the junior rate's mess between 41 and 45 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking forward from 43½ station on the port side showing two triple tier bunk units on the right with an ironing board and electric iron in the foreground. A row of kit lockers is against the port bulkhead. A mirror, an electric iron storage bracket, an automatic emergency lantern, an escape ladder and gas vents to the cold rooms are against the forward bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
