On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is in the wardroom between 50 and 56 stations on the port side of 1 deck looking aft and slightly to port from 51 station showing the wardroom table and chairs in the foreground. A bar is against the ship's side. A settee bench, an electric fire, a cupboard and a framed map are against the aft bulkhead and four armchairs are facing it. The map is a reproduction of "A Newe Mape of Tartary augmented by John Speede...1626" which was in the first world atlas published in London in 1651.
