On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is on 01 deck to starboard of the centreline at 68 station looking forward and up showing the canvas covered simple tachymetric director in the foreground and the after funnel. On the after funnel either side of the jalousie are sets of three flight deck floodlights, below the jalousie is the glidepath indicator and further below is a line of horizon lights to assist the helicopter pilot. The GWS 21 Seacat missile close range blind fire directors are on either side abaft the funnel.
