'View of Belem Town 1773'

Medium includes graphite. Inscribed, as title. The boat in the foreground is a Portuguese 'beancod' (the English term for them). The tower of Belem is at far left with what may be an English naval brig at anchor just to its right. Belem is in the estuary of the Tagus, on the north shore: today it is a suburb of Lisbon. The fortification on the right is on the Belem shore so the view is to the west and seaward.
