On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in B Lock in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is looking aft from the after funnel over the Limbo mark 10 mortar, the flightdeck and the stern. The barrels of the mortar are vertical and the letters on the flight deck are TA. In No. 3 Basin are the sonar trials vessel Matapan (1945) on the right while the type 12 frigate Rothesay (1957) and the diving trials ship Reclaim (1948) are on either side of the 240 ton cantilever crane jetty. A Scimitar class fast training boat is alongside a Ton class minesweeper on the left.
