The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 40 and 43½ stations on the centreline of 01 deck looking forward and to port from the starboard side at 43 station showing the positions of three communications ratings against the forward bulkhead. The captain's high chair, the pelorus, and the attack consoles are in the forward extension of the bridge. A navigational aids junction box is in the left foreground. The commando carrier Hermes (1953), berthed on Middle Slip Jetty, can be seen through the bridge windows.
