On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is looking forward from 67½ station on the starboard side of 1 deck showing the unique Fran Kee protective decking. The ship's brass nameplate is on the deck. Her name board is also on the bulkhead of the diesel generator compartment. The ship's dory is on the deck between the davits but the motor whaler is not shipped. In the Portsmouth Dockyard photographer's list this negative is said to be taken on the "Fran Kee" deck which is the timber clad waist of the ship. The Type 41 anti-aircraft frigate Leopard (1955) is at moorings in the background. A vertical format colour negative.
