On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer is looking to port and down onto the unique Fran Kee protective decking from 67 station on the starboard side of 1 deck. Aft is the Limbo mortar well and the door to the quartermaster's lobby is on the right. The ship is berthed port side to the jetty and a man is proceeding up the brow. In the Portsmouth Dockyard photographer's list this negative is said to be taken on the "Fran Kee" deck which is the timber clad waist of the ship. A vertical format colour negative.
