The photographer is looking aft and down from 56½ station on the starboard side of 1 deck showing the unique Fran Kee protective decking in way of the dory which is sitting on its cradle between the motor whaler's davits. The dory has a canvas cover over it. The ship is berthed port side to the jetty. In the Portsmouth Dockyard photographer's list this negative is said to be taken on the "Fran Kee" deck which is the timber clad waist of the ship. A colour negative.
