Trimble Ensign handheld GPS receiver

This object is one of the first handheld civilian GPS receivers. It is a Trimble Ensign handheld GPS receiver, manufactured by Trimble navigation, made in 1992. The case and presentation were designed by Jonathan Ivey, a renowned British designer working in Silicon Valley in the early 1990s. He was working also for Apple and has had a great influence on the overall design concept of many Apple products.
