On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit. The photographer in the operations room between 42 and 45½ stations on 1 deck looking to starboard from 43½ station showing the stools for the communications desks on the left. The chart table, a dial telephone, a telephone handset, a pitometer log repeater and an echo sounder are against the side of the ship. A visual display unit is on the right and an Admiralty Research Laboratory plotting table is against the aft bulklhead. The screen bulkhead holds the various weapons, speed, bearing and distance repeaters and a telephone handset for the commanding officer's use. A vertical format negative.
