The former British Power Boat Co Ltd boatyard at Hythe, Hampshire
The former boatyard of the British Power Boat Co. Ltd. The company was formed 30 September 1927 to use R Kemp's Hythe Boatyard which Hubert-Scott Paine had purchased in the same year. The British Power Boat Company became a limited liability company in June 1938 and was liquidated in 1947. In 1989 this site was occupied by Dreamland Electric Blanket Company. The photographer is inside a concrete framed and brick built building fitted with metal casement windows. He is on the ground floor and the ceiling is made of panels supported on steel beams. Two double doors are in the end wall. The space has a tiled floor and is empty except for a single pedestal desk, a few sheet materials leaning against the walls and some rubbish on the floor.
