A sign describing the funnels on board the former Cunard passenger liner Queen Elizabeth (1940) berthed in Port Everglades, Florida.
A close view of a sign describing the funnels on board the former Cunard passenger liner Queen Elizabeth (1940). She is berthed port side to the quay at Port Everglades, Florida, as a tourist attraction. The sign reads: "Two of the largest funnels (smokestacks) afloat are visible from here. The forward one stands 70 feet above the deck and the after funnel is just a little less tall. If one of them could be laid on its side, at least two railroad locomotives could be driven through it abreast. A cross section of each funnel measures 30 by 44 feet. They hold the Queen Elizabeth's three one-ton whistles which could be heard over 10 miles at sea." The whistles referred to are actually foghorns.
