Port bow view of an unidentified brig dried out off the quayside, possibly at Swansea

A waxed paper calotype negative. A view looking from the shore, fine off the port bow, of an unidentified brig dried out close a quay, possibly at Swansea. The brig has a white male bust figurehead. A small sailing vessel, with most of its rig removed is dried out on the shore in front of the port bow and a small ship's boat is in the foreground.

Note that this was previous identified as the Ellen Simson/Ellen Simpson, but both ships of that name were registered as barques. It has been assumed that the description '163. Brig and Barque, aground, Swansea' relates to this negative, but there is only a brig in the photograph.
