The subject of this drawing relates to a painting by Pocock of the Seven Years War, dated 1812. The ship sinking on the left is the French 'Thésée'. The faint outline of the 'Torbay' can be seen to the left of 'Thésée'. See also PAD8709, which is a more developed pencil sketch.
